Long exposure mission

After the last three days of howling winds, today was much more conducive for a walk….and the beach sounded good….the only slight glitch being its really high tide in the afternoon, making a lot of the beach walks impossible. We took a ride a little way down the coast to Guvvos Beach, a wonderfully long beach just outside Anglesea.

One of the things I’ve been trying to do is take long exposure shots with my drone. It’s tricky, as I need ND filters and the longer the exposure, the more chance of the drone wobbling a little as it takes the photo. However, I got some shots, where you can see the smoothed waves…

It was a lovely walk, big waves, sunny sky, nice clouds and, best of all, practically no one on it.

The Gales before the Storm…

Quick little outing today, about 6.5km. The weather forecast, I think from Adalaide to Sydney, over the next few days is gale force winds, rain and cold…and the winds have already got going….

So out we went, through the bush to the empty beach, took some video of the shifting sands and some photos of a large piece of seaweed….the seaweed is incredible tough and rubbery. Now it’s time to batten down the hatches and hope it doesn’t blow and rain too much over the next few days

Cliffs, Beach and River

After the excitement of the last few days, where we were thankfully spared the Zombie Apocalypse descending on Anglesea (turns out the visitor was a false positive), time to have a Sunday Walk. Weather is so-so, so we decided to do a 7.5km walk from the house, along to the cliff-top heaths, down to the beach and then back along the Anglesea River. Even though it was a bit grey, the sun made the occasional visit and we were thrilled to see two rainbows.. 🌈 The one above made a wonderful reflection in the wet sand…..There were also some lovely flowers, which I will identify and post more photos of another day..

Still kickin’

Walk around the Coogoorah Reserve

Day 1, post COVID jab and the world seems a brighter place…..just kidding, everything seems normal, no real side-effects other than my arm feeling a little bruised, which is weird as I didn’t even feel the injection go in…

Just to be on the safe side, we did a small-ish 4.5km walk from the house today. Rather than heading to the coast, there is a wonderfully tranquil reserve, the Coogoorah Reserve, which follows the Anglesea River as it goes flows into the Bass Strait.

On the way to the reserve we also walk along the old Coalmine Road and past the decommissioned Anglesea Coal Mine and Power Station, which we can’t see as it’s hidden away, so the drone came with us too

It’s a lovely walk, really peaceful and today’s weather was glorious…enjoy the photos, there is a nice mix of aerial and eye-level. It you look hard at the photo of the mine, you can see a monster truck in the center/bottom..give you an idea of how big the mine was.

Vaccination day

Trip to Airey’s Inlet for my first vaccination shot

When we arrived in Australia it was a relief to be somewhere that seemed to be fairly normal COVID-wise. Life seemed, by and large, normal…well that changed today…..

Seems Anglesea got a visit last week from Mr. Covid. We are fine, hadn’t been to any of the exposure locations, and we’re not exact social either. By complete chance, last week I called the clinic in Airey’s Inlet, as they were the closest place offering the vaccine and I really thought it was about time I got the shot. And my appointment was for today, the day of the zombie outbreak Anglesea event….

So we didn’t get out for a walk today, instead here’s the (extremely exciting) time-lapse video of me driving back from the clinic in Airey’s Inlet, about 10km from here, along the coast and Great Ocean Road

Walk to Point Roadknight

Today ended up being nearly a 12km walk…from the house, down to the beach at the east end f town, then walking west along the beach at low tide until hitting the Beautiful Point Roadknight. Why Roadknight you ask? Well me too.

And yes, I’m brining my drone with me…

The walk we did today. I’m not Jesus, don’t worry…we didn’t walk on water, but we did walk when it was very low tide, which is why it seems biblical……
